Systematic Review of Bariatric Surgery

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 68 words of the full text and any section headings.

To the Editor: In their systematic review of bariatric surgery,1 Dr Buchwald and colleagues refer to the 2-year risk-factor article2 from the Swedish Obese Subjects Intervention Study. They state that it showed a decrease in mortality in diabetic patients who had undergone bariatric surgery. This is an error. We must strongly emphasize that no mortality data have yet been published from the Swedish Obese Subjects Intervention Study.
