In Reply: We acknowledge that the equation Mr Schwark presents for conversion of DASI score to estimated peak VO2 was used in the original development of the DASI.1 However, that conversion had been optimized for the original study group of 50 healthy individuals. The raw DASI score is intended to estimate peak VO2,1 and 1 MET is defined as approximately 3.5 mL/kg per minute VO2. The raw DASI score has been validated in the Womens Ischemic Syndrome Evaluation (WISE) cohort and shown to correlate with treadmill-derived METs.2 Furthermore, among women who had treadmill testing in the WISE cohort, we found better correlation (r = 0.35 vs 0.20) and lower median difference (0.30 vs 0.60) between treadmill METs and DASI METs when converting by dividing DASI score by 3.5 than when using the conversion formula from the original DASI article. Therefore, we believe that this simpler . . . [Full Text of this Article]
