Health Research Funding Losing Ground

At a time when other nations, particularly those in Asia, are increasing funds dedicated to health research, the United States' investment in health research is being reined in, a new analysis indicates. While the total dollar value continues to rise, investment in research as a proportion of all health spending in the country is going in the opposite direction, according to Research!America, a not-for-profit public education and advocacy alliance organization, based in Alexandria, Va (http://www.researchamerica.org/).

"The percent of money invested in research, which is essentially what you're doing to solve the problems that you’ve got, is dropping as opposed to going up," said Stacie Propst, PhD, director of science policy at Research!America.
