At a time when other nations, particularly those in Asia, are increasing funds dedicated to health research, the United States' investment in health research is being reined in, a new analysis indicates. While the total dollar value continues to rise, investment in research as a proportion of all health spending in the country is going in the opposite direction, according to Research!America, a not-for-profit public education and advocacy alliance organization, based in Alexandria, Va (http://www.researchamerica.org/).
"The percent of money invested in research, which is essentially what you're doing to solve the problems that youve got, is dropping as opposed to going up," said Stacie Propst, PhD, director of science policy at Research!America.

While investment in health research and development continues to grow each year in the United States, it is failing to keep pace with inflation.
