To the Editor: In the study of remissions in maternal depression and child psychopathology by Dr Weissman and colleagues,¹ conflict of interest disclosures were made for 6 of the 15 coauthors. However, it appears that authors omitted or minimized numerous previously published pharmaceutical relationships, based on comparison with the "American Psychiatric Association's Continuing Medical Education Policy on Full Disclosure."²

Given JAMA’s policy of "complete disclosure of all relevant financial interests,"³ we are concerned about this apparent lack of transparency between published research and authors' interests.

Financial Disclosures: Dr Kruszewski reported that he has equity holding in Millennium Pharmaceuticals and has previously spoken on behalf of Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Janssen, Wallace, GlaxoSmithKline, and Amersham biopharmaceuticals; has sued 6 major pharmaceutical companies in the Federal Court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania, an action against the companies that he subsequently discontinued in 2006.
