Admir Hadzic's Textbook of Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management may be the most comprehensive text of its kind. The 83 chapters, written by foremost authorities in the field, are replete with evidence-based guidelines and practical information about a variety of pain-alleviating procedures. The work is impressive, both in its broad scope and detailed content. Each section contains beautiful illustrations of the relevant anatomy, in addition to photographs of cadaveric anatomy, patient positioning, necessary equipment, and needle placement. Where applicable, fluoroscopy and ultrasound images are also presented. Most chapters include procedural complication rates garnered from the literature and strategies to prevent these complications from occurring. The authors discuss the controversies associated with the indications, approaches, and complications of each technique. This is especially useful for physicians in other specialties who are considering using these pain-relieving procedures for their patients.
