The House has approved a measure that would provide a $50 million boost in funding for the prevention, control, and treatment of tuberculosis (TB), notably strains of TB that are resistant to multiple drugs.
The allocation would go to the Child Survival and Health Programs Fund, a provision in Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2008 (HR 2764 [http://thomas.loc.gov]), passed by the House on June 21.

With the additional money, the Agency for International Development could provide much needed resources around the world to strengthen basic TB control, improve laboratory capacity to detect drug resistance, and scale up capacity to treat drug-resistant strains, said Rep Donald M.
