In the forward to this fourth edition of Osteoarthritis, Dr Henry Mankin, an editor of previous editions, proclaims, "This is a great book—a treasure for the physician and basic scientist and indeed an important contribution to the successful diagnosis and treatment of patients with osteoarthritis." He has summarized it perfectly, for this book is a wonderful resource for rheumatologists, orthopedists, physiatrists, primary care physicians, medical students, and physicians in training, as well as basic and clinical researchers interested in the biology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of persons with osteoarthritis. The editors have produced a textbook that fulfills their stated goals of reaching these audiences in both the clinical and research worlds.
