Bridget M. Kuehn

JAMA. 2008;299(20):2379.

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 137 words of the full text and any section headings.

Congress created the position in 2007 to help shore up the FDA's scientific integrity, which has been called into question by agency panels and outsiders who cite inadequate resources and undue industry influence at the agency. Torti will help launch an FDA fellowship program and his office will be charged with ensuring the quality of the agency's scientific activities.

Previously, Torti chaired the Department of Cancer Biology and directed the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC.
