Selling Teaching Hospitals and Practice Plans is an exceptionally informative and engaging book that tackles the decisions of George Washington and Georgetown Universities in the 1990s to sell their teaching hospitals and practice plans to improve their financial situations. The book provides a useful and detailed structure for understanding the rationale by which these universities had to make these monumental decisions. In addition, the author reports the logistical and implied ramifications for medical teaching and research along with the current status of both institutions. Moreover, the content not only provides information about financial data, research, and education but also about the trials and tribulations of individuals working in both institutions and of those who were the principle decision makers in those unique transactions. After an exceptionally clear conclusion, the book ends with 2 appendixes.
