Professional wrestling organizations have failed to address the pervasive illegal use of steroids and other drugs within the sport, said Rep Henry Waxman (D, Calif).
Waxman made his claim in a January 2 letter sent to John P. Walters, director of the president's Office of National Drug Control Policy (http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20090102115117.pdf). Waxman sent the letter before leaving his chairmanship of the House Oversight Committee to become chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
Waxman's committee investigated steroid use in professional wrestling after news reports in 2007 of a professional wrestler who hanged himself after killing his wife and son said the wrestler had 10 times the normal level of testosterone.
