Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 113 words of the full text and any section headings.

A new House caucus designed to promote academic medicine was announced October 6.

The Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus will be a bipartisan group of House members dedicated to maintaining and strengthening the country's medical schools and teaching hospitals. The caucus will be cochaired by Rep Allyson Schwartz (D, Pa) and Rep Patrick Tiberi (R, Ohio).

"With the establishment of this caucus, the nation's medical schools and teaching hospitals will have a strong voice in Congress and the support they need to continue to provide the high-quality care that all Americans deserve," said Darrell G. Kirch, MD, president and chief executive officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges, in a release.
