Enforcement of ACGME Requirements asks the AMA Board of Trustees to study alternative mechanisms for enforcing ACGME requirements at residency training institutions. The HOD recognized that a resident may be reluctant to report accreditation violations. The current penalties for accreditation violations, withdrawing accreditation, or placing a program on probation, may also punish the resident by delaying the completion of training or by downgrading the residency program.
