JAMA. 2002;288:2825.

On page 1895, in the first full paragraph, the fifth sentence should be "In addition, women who seem to lose BMD while taking alendronate may have a reduction in risk of vertebral fracture similar to that of women who gain BMD (unpublished data, 2002)." In the second full paragraph, reference 68 at the end of the second sentence should be 67. In the third full paragraph, reference 69 in the middle of the fourth sentence should be 68. In the fourth full paragraph, reference 70 at the end of second sentence should be 69. In that same paragraph, reference 71 at the end of the last sentence should be 70. In the fifth full paragraph, reference 72 at the end of the second sentence should be 71. In the seventh full paragraph, reference 73 at the end of the sentence should be 72. On page 1897, reference 68 in the reference list should be renumbered to 67; 69 to 68; 70 to 69; 71 to 70; 72 to 71; and 73 to 72.
