To the Editor.—

A modified Snellen's chart is p-oposed (Amer J Ophthal 66:750, 1969) which employs simplified Gothic characters, instead of those usually printed in Gothic Boston Breton type adorned with serifs. Most road signs are designed in the sans serif lettering, and it is suggested that vision-testing of automobile drivers might wisely be uone using charts printed in these letters, as illustrated (Figure). . . .
