This little book of 12 chapters is the most recent text concerning the nature and management of this puzzling and comparatively rare neuromyal disease. It suffers from being largely devoted to the clinical experience and personal concepts of the staff of the New End Hospital in London. There are numerous errors and biases that could have been eliminated by closer editing and better understanding of the papers of others working in this field. The prevalence of data cited limits the number of cases in the United States to 12,000 and in England and Wales to 1,100; most of us would feel that twice that number would be more realistic. The statement in the last chapter that x-ray treatment is of no value in nonthymoma patients is at variance with a great deal of reliable published data. There is no doubt that the authors are convinced of the benefit of thymectomy;
