This well-written and profusely illustrated text on the morphology of the liver is a definitive work and will, I am quite certain, become the standard reference for all workers concerned with the structure of the liver.

The great strength of this text lies in the multidimensional illustrations that relate to actual photomicrographs both at the light microscopic and ultrastructural levels and also relate to the gross structure. This illustrative material makes it possible to conceptualize the structure of the liver and to understand the aberrations brought about by disease states. It is a beautiful and effective teaching and learning device.

The text is divided into four sections: microscopic anatomy of the liver, embryology of the liver, gross and surgical anatomy of the liver, and basic pathological condition of the liver.
