To the Editor.—
Children in the 5- to 12-year age group often present with intoeing secondary to a hip rotation problem. These children present with marked internal rotation of the hips (Fig 1). Postural etiology is best illustrated when the child is told to sit naturally. They usually assume the position of extreme internal rotation of the hips as seen in Fig 2. This is a position that tends to aggravate the condition. The best advice to give to the parents is to watch the child in sitting and to encourage the opposite position—Indian style.
