This well-illustrated book (465 pages and 772 illustrations) describes roentgen appearances in most skeletal abnormalities but excludes traumatic lesions and detailed discussion of the arthritides. The illustrations are large and most are well reproduced. Accompanying the illustrations are detailed descriptions allowing the book to be used as an atlas without the necessity of referring to the text.

Numerous tables listing diseases producing common roentgen signs are included in the text leading to a reduction in size of the book. The tables are useful to one who faces deviations from normal on roentgenograms and must provide a differential diagnosis. The book is organized with this concept in mind and groups diseases by predominant roentgen features rather than etiology. It is this feature that would make the book more useful as a reference for a radiologist or orthopedist presented with a specific problem than as a text for a medical student interested . . .
