To the Editor:—

In December 1966 a group of physicians, clergy, and laymen, moved by the enormity of the suffering of war-burned and war-injured Vietnamese children, formed the Committee of Responsibility to bring these innocent victims of war to the United States for the restorative surgery and rehabilitative treatment not available to them in Vietnam. Since that time the committee, an independent, nonprofit, nonpolitical group, has won the support of hundreds of physicians and surgeons who have volunteered their services. Some of the most outstanding medical centers and hospitals in the nation have offered beds for these children and legions of citizens have asked to care for them at home during their convalescence. The committee today has branches in cities throughout the country, including Hawaii and Alaska.
