To the Editor.—

At county and state medical society meetings, much discussion has arisen concerning peer review of physicians and surgeons. A great deal of the criticism against such reviews are often sotto voce. Many doctors of medicine fear that punitive review powers may reside in those persons who have shown little or no kindness toward their confreres in the past. If such individuals become the vanguard of peer review, it may be well for all concerned to remember that: "Peer Review should be the exercise of professional authority within the framework of mutually respected dialogue and collegiality." . . .
