To the Editor. —
"Dietogenetics" seems an appropriate designation for the newly identified significant area discussed by McCracken ( 213: 2257, 1970) on the basis of the prime example, adult lactase deficiency. The term is parallel to "pharmacogenetics" coined by F. Vogel, now of Heidelberg, for the area of interrelationship between genotype and drug response or reaction, in the late 1950s when the examples of primaquine sensitivity and succinylcholine sensitivity were first receiving wide attention.
