To the Editor.—
Westerman made several excellent points which we tried to convey in our paper. We pointed out the rarity of diureticinduced hypokalemic myopathy and the multicausal aspect of hypokalemia in reported cases.
Though dietary deficiency of potassium and excessive sweating might have played some part in hypokalemia in our case, we were not able to document their role. Chlorthalidone therapy and abuse of laxatives were two documented factors in inducing hypokalemia in our case.
