The Journal of the American Medical Association has enjoyed a succession of distinguished editors. Each has contributed his own unique style, expertise, and philosophy. With each new editor THE JOURNAL has changed, met the challenges of its times, and grown in circulation and stature.

With volume 226 Dr. Hugh H. Hussey will finish four years at the helm and pass the editorship to Dr. Robert H. Moser. Hugh Hussey, formerly chairman of medicine and dean at Georgetown University, has served the American Medical Association as a trustee, chairman of the Board, director of Scientific Activities, and editor in chief of Scientific Publications. He will remain on the AMA staff as editor emeritus and assume additional new duties on behalf of AMA's many scientific enterprises.
