To the Editor.—
Apropos of Dr. Howard I. Maibach's answer to Dr. Robert L. Devine's query regarding therapeutic agents for human skin infestations (230:759, 1974), I would like to modify parts four and five of his answer as follows.
I don't believe that as dermatologists we ought to be recommending preparations for what is essentially pest control. Also, I doubt that any people other than professional pest control people should be using these products unsupervised. When fleas or bedbugs are suspect, my advice to patients is always to call their friendly exterminator.
