This volume has much to offer allied health care professions concerned with the problems of the aged and chronically ill. However, certain defects exist because of redundant discussions and important omissions.
The sections on specific problems are excellent. These are well presented concepts and guidelines that have practical value in applying corrective and rehabilitative methods at all levels of physical care. Clear, concise instructions presented with pertinent illustrations add to the usefulness of this volume when dealing with certain specific conditions.
Conspicuous in omission is a specific section on depression, which is the most common problem present in the population under discussion. A separate section concerned with cardiac and peripheral vascular diseases would also be welcome. Much material extant in today's literature on death and dying deserves consideration. The authors titillate the reader with concepts intended to maximize each patient's capabilities. Would it not have served a useful purpose to
