To the Editor.—
In the Dec 16 issue of THE JOURNAL, Dr. Moser wrote, "it is tempting to place the Hippocratic Collection beside the Nei Ching, the classic that has served as the basis for traditional medicine in China for 5,000 years."
Since that would take us back to the Neolithic period of China's history, from which we have no written records, one might question the figure of 5,000 years.
Rumor has it that Huang Ti, the legendary author of the Nei Ching, was born of a miraculous conception. Is it conceivable that he vouchsafed a miraculous revelation to the practitioners of later generations?
