To the Editor.—
Robert Moser's editorial on the Chinese people's love of their government (230:1566, 1974) may be true; I am certainly not in a position to know. But it does lack a knowledge of the history of the intellectual's experience with all other forms of Communism.
Communist states are totalitarian states, in the sense used by Hannah Arendt, and none of us can know what the people of a Communist state really think. I wonder who Robert Moser's Chinese Solzhenitsyn will be.
