To the Editor.—
Naturally, I agree with Dr. Z. I. Sabry's suggestion, submitted at the Western Hemisphere Nutrition Congress IV (229:1858, 1974), about the necessity of birth control programs for pets. The distressing number of animals that have to be destroyed every day by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals testifies to the validity of this suggestion.
As for Dr. Sabry's "Brave New World," where zoos will be designed "to allow the community rather than individuals, to have social interaction with animals," I enthusiastically endorse his plan since, indeed, this is a good way to fill our planet to capacity with the species homo sapiens. Yet, I regret to say, Dr. Sabry's plan is far from complete.
By selective breeding we should eliminate, I propose, all fat people. Thus, we could feed, perhaps, two lean individuals on the food that one overweight person customarily consumes.
