To the Editor.—

Krissoff and Eiseman (233:158, 1975) should be happy to learn that most of their recommendations have long since been implemented by the US Hang Gliding Association and with better results than one should expect from "FAA regulation" suggestions. As those authors noted from their data (about one tenth that of the US Hang Gliding Association's, which covers the population at risk, and is, therefore, much more "scientific"), beginners are rarely hurt seriously. This pattern of injury is like that in skiing, where ski patrols and education by organizations have also been more effective than political agency regulation or prohibition.
