I believe Dr Forsythe is correct in his comment that it is not good practice to administer injections in office practice when oral medications are available, both for reasons of risk of anaphylaxis and for patient economy. I thought I alluded to this point when I commented that the physician who asked the question certainly was giving a large number of injections to his patients. The low incidence of needle abscesses is obviously no excuse for the overuse of injections. I believe Dr Forsythe's commentary is important, but I would not consider my original reply inappropriate.
