In Reply.—
We checked our cohort of 29 male patients with nephritis. Two of them became uremic and died before the availability of dialysis in the early 1960s. Two male patients became uremic and underwent dialysis therapy. Of interest is one patient who received dialysis in 1970 and received a renal transplant in 1972. The patient had a transplant rejection in 1978, and evidence of lupus was found in the rejected kidney. Thus, 13% of our male patients with nephritis had development of renal failure.
