In Reply.—
I agree that patients are admitted to hospitals for predetermined reasons and particular problems. My concern is that a reason for admission is sought rather than a complaint. It is not necessary that all complaints be followed by voluminous histories, physicals, and laboratory tests. I do believe that the better a physician knows his patient, the better the care he can provide.
