In Reply.—
The authors have considered the comments by Drs Wade and Ackerman, and we agree with them that the lesions we described as "pigmented penile papules"1 are possibly similar to "bowenoid papulosis."2 While there is no evidence for a transition of these lesions into microinvasive carcinoma, the possibility that some invasive carcinoma of the genitalia originate from these types of lesions cannot be ruled out on theoretical grounds. We regret that the article by Drs Wade and Ackerman was quoted incorrectly; our article should have read "histologically" rather than "clinically" when their presentation was cited.
