The published reports of injuries related to the increasing popularity of electronic games is scanty at best. An interesting case was seen in our emergency department several weeks ago that we believe may represent a problem seen frequently but not recognized readily.
Report of a Case.—
A 40-year-old man came to our emergency department with the complaint of severe dull pain in his right elbow that would gradually spread distally to involve the right forearm and wrist and proximally to the right upper arm and shoulder. There was no history of trauma or arthritis.
On examination, the patient was afebrile. He had severe tenderness of both medial and lateral epicondyles, where both the pronators and supinators, respectively, of the forearm originate. There was no evidence of effusion, erythema, or limitation of motion. Results of further workup were essentially normal.
