Next week marks the start of what the American Diabetes Association says is the largest education program in its history for health professionals.

Expected to cost about $4 million and supported by an educational grant from the Upjohn Company of Kalamazoo, Mich, the clinical education program is "designed to reach all primary care physicians in the nation over the next two years" with information about type II noninsulin-dependent diabetes.

The program begins April 11 with a live two-way teleconference that may involve up to 20,000 physicians in 24 cities. This telecast meeting, said to be "the largest ever attempted by any health organization," will present The Physician's Guide to Type II Diabetes: Diagnosis and Treatment.
