To the Editor.—
Having just returned from a medical conference I particularly appreciated Dr Hammerschmidt's fine article1 and wish that more of the speakers had read it. I have an even simpler rule for preparing slides: if you can hold a slide up a foot in front of your eyes and clearly read its contents, you can be certain your entire audience will be able to read it when it is projected in almost all normal circumstances. I have used this rule for years and have never had a complaint about an unreadable slide.
