To the Editor.—

The interesting article by McShane et al,¹ "Cellular Immunity to Sperm in Infertile Women," supports the contention that cellular immunity to sperm may produce infertility in some women. Close inspection of the sperm antigen preparation technique shows that a whole ejaculate was used to prepare the stimulating antigen. Unfortunately, seminal cells other than spermatozoa are present in an ejaculate and must be separated by "swim-up" techniques or other methods. The possibility that nonsperm cells stimulate lymphocyte cultures has been supported by Rodriguez-Cordoba and Arnaiz-Villena.²
