The April issue of the ARCHIVES OF SURGERY features publication of the annual program of the New England Surgical Society (NESS). This initiates a formal relationship of the society and the journal that will bring the new and exciting developments in surgery from medical centers in the six New England states to our readers. Also, in April, the Journal of the American Medical Association is calling attention to the ARCHIVES OF SURGERY, one of the nine specialty journals in the American Medical Associations' (AMA) family of publications. This emphasizes the collegiality and strengths that emanate from these relationships and the continuing dedication of the AMA to education.

The addition of the NESS to the organizations associated with the ARCHIVES provides representation from the breadth of the country, from New England to the West—the Western Surgical Association and Southern California.
