ARMED FORCES HEALTH PROFESSIONS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program, established Sept 21,1972, as part of the Uniformed Services Health Professions Revitalization Act, is the Department of Defense's subsidized recruiting program for obtaining qualified professionals for military service.
The program provides scholarships for eligible persons in accredited educational institutions within the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Currently, scholarships are being offered for study only in allopathic and osteopathic medicine.
The military departments have each developed implementation procedures for the administration of the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program in their service.
