To the Editor.—
In the article entitled "Alcohol-Use Patterns Through Medical School,"1 Clark et al found it "ironic" that "medical students who abused alcohol showed evidence of better academic performance... [and] exhibited no more depression or general anxiety than their classmates throughout medical school." The obvious explanation for this finding is that their definition of alcohol abuse was essentially worthless.
