To the Editor.
—I was deeply impressed by the article entitled "It's Over, Debbie."1 I would like to extend my most enthusiastic congratulations to the author for having the courage to submit this account.
Faced with a similar situation as a resident some years ago, the morphine approach seemed to be the obvious solution. But I just didn't have the strength to relieve a young man's suffering in view of the possible repercussions of such an action. It is encouraging to learn that at least one of us has risked his career to relieve the suffering of another.
