To the Editor.
—As a practicing rheumatologist and one who considers himself as contemporary as anybody else, I feel crushed to have our very contemporary specialty eliminated from the CONTEMPO '87 issue of THE JOURNAL.1 I fear that the omission of an essay about the advances made in rheumatology will only further fuel the misconception held by many physicians and laymen that "there is nothing to do about arthritis." Obviously, we think that there is something that can be done and we hope that you will solicit a comparable essay from one of the leaders in our field.
