I read with interest Drs Woolhandler and Himmelstein's¹ commentary; it is clear when one examines the developments of the 20th century, especially in the later portion of the previous decade, that the system that works best for satisfying the needs of the people of the world is characterized by political and economic freedom. The universal characteristic of socialistic systems is that they require compulsion and tyranny.
