To the Editor.—
I would like to point out that heavy metal is not only a vehicle for adolescent rebellion and a risk factor for drug abuse and satanic activities1 but an artistic style that can be appreciated simply for what it is: music (albeit with emphasis on bass and percussion). Some people like it and others do not, but those of us who do and neither use drugs nor are satanists should be allowed to enjoy our music without being labeled.
