To the Editor.—
I read with interest the article by Drs Brown and Hendee1. The concept of musical preference leading to increased index of suspicion for certain clinical entities and behaviors should be expanded. I bet that for every teenager who commits suicide or some crime under the influence of heavy metal music, there are dozens of white-collar criminals engaged in such activities as insider trading, savings and loan fraud, government corruption, defrauding of the Defense Department, etc. Is it possible that listening to Johann Sebastian Bach or Barry Manilow can lead to such behavior? I look forward to reading the results of further research in this area.
