To the Editor.
—Dr Weinstein's 21st-century version of the Hippocratic oath1 should really be read as the hypocritical oath. While claiming to "have the highest respect for human life," Weinstein espouses all the modern-day excesses of euthanasia and abortion. He claims that "I am not a God," but he states earlier that "it is wrong to terminate life in certain circumstances, permissible in some, and an act of supreme love in others."
Weinstein uses the term supreme as the highest level of love in order to justify the termination of life. What hypocrisy! I certainly don't want him near my bed when I'm sick for fear that he would indulge me with one of his "supreme" acts of love.
