To the Editor.
—Lloyd et al1 showed that increasing daily calcium intakes from 80% of the recommended daily allowance to 110% via supplementation with calcium citrate malate resulted in significant increases in total body and spinal bone density in adolescent girls. This is an important addition to the growing body of evidence showing that greater peak skeletal mass can be achieved by consciously increasing calcium intakes above those usually chosen by females during growth and development.
