To the Editor.

—The article1 and Editorial2 regarding "The Learning Curve" raises an issue with which all physicians and institutions are wrestling.

However, there is an even more vexing concern out there. Namely, for the many complex (and not so complex) procedures learned in the past, how many need to be successfully done and over what period of time to maintain skills and credentialing? Should it be "once credentialed, always credentialed"?

This is the other side of the "learning curve"—the "retention curve"—and it may prove an even tougher nut to crack! . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
