—In a recent A Piece of My Mind, Dr Small¹ states, "Very little excites an 81-year-old man, thank God." I find this statement highly objectionable and totally unfounded. It is just this careless assumption that gives so many of our older friends so much trouble. Why shouldn't they be just as excitable as younger people—and sometimes even more so? A dear friend of mine, about to turn 86, is just as thrillable and thrilling as any teenager—and why not? We must stop stereotyping, in particular when it comes to older people. . . .
