—I thank Dr Brody for confirming that, as reported in my Editorial, breast-feeding by silicone implant recipients is not advised in Europe and for clarifying the rationale behind this recommendation. Like other careful physicians, Brody appears to have reached a conclusion similar to mine; namely, that although preliminary reports such as that by Drs Levine and Ilowite1 are concerning, the current data linking implants with disease in breast-fed children do not support a ban against breast-feeding by mothers with silicone implants.
